The 33-year-old Egyptian star striker has published a post together with a picture of him and Jota.
Salah writes:
"Team-mates come and go, but not like this. It will be extremely difficult to accept that Diogo will not be there when we return."
The Portuguese national team striker died in a car accident along with brother André Silva near Cernadilla in northern Spain close to the border with Portugal on Wednesday night. They will be buried on Saturday.
Salah and Jota played together in Liverpool for several years and won both the Premier League, last season, and the FA Cup, in the 2021–2022 season, together.
According to BBC some Liverpool players would gather again after the break on Friday. The players will instead join on Monday, due to Jota's death.
Corrected: In an earlier version of this text, the wrong day for the funeral was stated. The correct day is Saturday.
