Alex Norén is playing better golf than he has in years – and is hoping for a good season-ending performance in the Tiger Woods Invitational this week. But the first round was partly ruined by a big miss.

Alex Norén is one of only 20 players in the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas, the competition hosted by Tiger Woods as usual – but for the second year in a row without playing due to injury.

During the first round, Norén was at -5 and had a tight lead, just two strokes off the lead after five birdies, when he made an unusually big miss on the 16th hole.

Norén dubbed a short pitch shot into a green bunker. It was a double bogey on the hole and Norén finished the round with a score of 69, three under par.

Despite the miss, the Swede is only three strokes behind the lead. Five players, including world number one Scottie Scheffler, share first place at -6.

Alex Norén, who has won two competitions this year and climbed to 17th place in the world rankings, is in the middle of the field.
