They usually attack trees and bushes, but it's really just a matter of chance what they attack, says Mats Persson, coordinator at the county administrative board's nature management unit, to NSD.
The staff at the nature reserve discovered that the metal posts had bent towards the ground and have now placed signs and barriers along the six-kilometer trail so that snowmobile drivers do not hit the obstacles.
With frost on the ground, the restoration of the poles may take some time.
We'll do it in the lead-up to the bare-ground season, and then we'll see what route they take next season, says Persson, laughing.
