The company has now entered into a non-binding letter of intent with the Canadian Defence Investment Authority, under which Canada intends to purchase six Global Eye aircraft, according to a press release.
"The letter of intent reflects the strong collaboration between Saab and Canada and creates a clear framework for the next phase of our joint work," says Micael Johansson, CEO and president of Saab, in the press release.
Global Eye - which is based on Canadian aircraft manufacturer Bombardier's Global 6500 model - will, if the deal goes through, be part of a system for protecting airspace against, among other things, cruise missiles and hypersonic missiles.
