This normally takes a few months to come together. I naturally hope that this will be completed this year, said Saab CEO Micael Johansson to SVT about the deal.

In October last year, Ukraine entered into a declaration of intent with Sweden to purchase 100–150 Gripen aircraft.

Last month, after Hungary's veto, the EU gave the green light to a €90 billion loan to Ukraine.

The Ukrainians need to use the €90 billion that the EU is lending. 60 billion of that will go to military procurement and some of it is expected to go to fighter jets, said Micael Johansson.
