"Today we have to start the review once they are in the system instead of when they are admitted," says regional councilor My Alnebratt (S).
According to her, the Västra Götaland Region has terminated contracts with nine health centers since 2023 due to patient safety risks. In several cases, serious crime is behind this.
S also wants regions to be able to terminate contracts with unscrupulous private healthcare providers more easily.
Alnebratt says the region found errors and rejected dentists' invoices in 34 percent of cases reviewed. In one case, all of a patient's teeth had been extracted without medical justification.
