The Social Democrats are proposing an investment in the railways. In a first step, 500 million kronor will be allocated in a reinforced allocation for road and railway maintenance in 2026.
Swedish railways are a market failure. Delayed trains, cancelled departures and goods transports that get stuck on the rails. It costs not only time and patience but billions in lost revenue for society and the business community, says the party's traffic policy spokesperson Aylin Nouri at a press conference.
It is also proposed that the Swedish Transport Administration will have its own machinery and personnel to be able to carry out maintenance of the railway network. In connection with this, SEK 100 million will be allocated for the purchase of necessary machinery.
