Pause the new version of the electricity network fee and hurry up with an announcement about what the new electricity support will look like, the Social Democrats demand.

The Social Democrats are critical of the government's energy policy, which the party believes has only made everyday life more expensive for the Swedish people. That is the message from Mikael Damberg and Fredrik Olovsson, economic policy and energy policy spokespersons for the party, respectively, at a press conference.

–The government must do what is necessary so that the Swedish people do not have to worry about winter electricity bills, and we believe that action is needed here and now, says Mikael Damberg.

S wants to see some emergency measures, including pausing the power tariffs, which all electricity network companies are to have introduced from 1 January 2027. Power tariffs are a new method for electricity network companies to charge and which should be based on the times when the customer consumes the most electricity.

The way the fees work now, they are in many cases misguided, according to Fredrik Olovsson.

We want the Energy Market Inspectorate to develop rules so that the electricity grid companies are not allowed to do as they please, he says.

In addition, S is requesting a regulation from the government that will provide answers to what the promised electricity support for the winter should look like.
