Rydström on Larsson: "An incredible team player"

Without having played a minute, Hugo Larsson left the national team gathering prematurely. His former coach Henrik Rydström believes that the rift between Larsson and national team captain Jon Dahl Tomasson will find a solution moving forward.

Something else would be strange, says Rydström when he was interviewed by Aftonbladet, Expressen, and Sydsvenskan in connection with Malmö FF's Tuesday training.

Larsson got no playing time against Azerbaijan on Thursday and afterwards, Jon Dahl Tomasson said that the 20-year-old needs to improve on vertical passes. The Scanian midfielder did not hide his disappointment and left the gathering already before Sunday's match against Estonia with a "slight injury feeling", which was not worse than Larsson training football with Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday.

In the long run, you need to find a way to get Hugo back into the national team again. Because he is too good not to be included. We are talking about a player who could be an engine in the national team for many, many years, says Rydström.

Rydström, who trained Hugo Larsson in MFF until the move to Germany last year, thinks that the situation in the national team "got out of hand", but does not want to review what is right or wrong.

What I think is most unfortunate is that it appears as if Hugo is disloyal and not a team player. But he is an incredible team player, he says to the newspapers.
