The Irish low-cost airline has had to divert almost one flight every morning because of disruptive behaviour by intoxicated passengers.

It has become a major challenge for all airlines, says Michael O'Leary.

"I can't understand why airports serve alcohol at five or six in the morning. Who needs beer then?" he said in an interview with Britain's The Times.

He therefore wants airports to be subject to the same alcohol laws and time restrictions as other bars.

According to The Times, statistics from the British Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) show that airlines are reporting 400 more cases of disruptive passengers annually than before the coronavirus pandemic.
