The F1 circus has not held a race in Africa since 1993. But now, this may change.
On Friday, Rwanda's President Paul Kagame announced that they want to arrange an F1 race in the capital Kigali, and are expected to bid to make the dream a reality sometime in the future.
"I am pleased to announce that Rwanda is formally bidding to bring the excitement of racing back to Africa", said Kagame at the International Automobile Federation's general assembly.
Earlier, the CEO of Formula 1, Stefano Domenicali, confirmed that discussions have begun and that F1 in Rwanda is a "concrete alternative".
