"To alert the yacht's crew to the situation, flares were fired and sound signals were given. Despite these measures, the yacht continued its dangerous approach," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
The incident is being investigated by the British Ministry of Defense, according to its spokesperson.
The incident comes days after British marines boarded the Russian oil tanker Smyrtos, which is suspected of belonging to the Russian so-called shadow fleet.
The British military is investigating reports that warning shots were fired at the vessel, which is described as a so-called yacht.
