Thailand's tourism is increasing, largely thanks to Russian visitors. In the weekly compilation that the country's tourism organization makes, the number of visitors increased by 16 percent during the period September 29–October 5, traditionally considered the start of the tourism high season.
Compared to the same period last year, the number of Russian visitors simultaneously increased by 32.5 percent, according to the tourist authorities. When many Western countries have introduced restrictions against Russian tourists, Thailand has instead become increasingly popular. Earlier this year, it was estimated that around 2.2 million would visit Thailand, which would be a significant increase compared to 1.7 million visitors in 2024.
