At the Youth Olympics in late October, Russian athletes will be allowed to march under their flag, and the Russian national anthem will be played. This summer, the IOC also announced that Russian athletes would be allowed to compete at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics regardless of their political affiliation - a decision Ukraine has appealed.

The IOC's decision is nothing Ukraine should concern itself with, Degtyarev told AFP.

The relationship between the IOC and Russia is a matter for the IOC and Russia.

Following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Russia was excluded from the Olympic Games and has not been allowed to compete as a nation since. However, Russian athletes have in some cases been allowed to compete as neutral athletes.
