On Friday, Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf was in Ukraine to meet President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

A video clip on X from the state-controlled Russian channel RT portrays the king as rejecting Zelenskyy's handshake, despite images and videos from the event showing the king and Zelenskyy shaking hands several times.

The royal court's head of information, Margareta Thorgren, said it was "wrong and ugly that it is portrayed that way in Russia."

"The whole visit was about Sweden supporting and standing behind Ukraine," she wrote in a comment to SVT.

Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (M), who was on the visit to Ukraine, has also reacted to the Russian information being disseminated:

"When reality is not enough, propaganda takes over. Sweden's strong support for Ukraine is apparently putting so much stress on Russia that they feel compelled to distort reality. Let us continue our support, and also hold the line against Russian disinformation," Malmer Stenergard said in a written comment to TT.
