Russia describes ongoing talks to end the war in Ukraine as "serious", ahead of US envoy Steve Witkoff's visit to Moscow next week.

"A process is underway, the process is serious," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told state television.

Russia is simultaneously analyzing the latest draft of the US peace plan and announcing that it views certain parts positively.

But other parts of the plan require discussions, the Kremlin adds.

Some aspects can be seen positively, but many require special discussions with experts, Putin's close advisor Yuri Ushakov said on state Russian television earlier on Wednesday.

The latest version of the plan has not yet been made public. According to US President Donald Trump, it is a “fine-tuned” version of the previous 28-point plan that was first presented, and which has been criticized for more or less implying Ukrainian surrender.
