Russia wants to have a power plant on the moon by 2036 and supply its space program and a planned international space station with energy from the plant, the state space agency Roscosmos writes on the Telegram messaging service.

Roscosmos has not explicitly said that it is a nuclear power plant, but partners in the program are Rosatom, the state nuclear energy company, and the Kurtjatov Institute, which is Russia's leading research center for nuclear energy.
