A sustainable solution will be difficult to achieve in a short time, says Russian President Vladimir Putin's spokesperson Dmitrij Peskov.
This issue is so complex, linked to the solution (of the war), that it is naturally not worthwhile to set specific time frames and try to get a sustainable agreement within a short time frame, says Peskov in a TV interview according to reports in Russian state media.
Fourth Visit
The spokesperson describes it as an ungrateful task to try to solve, but admits that "the work continues" and that contacts with the USA continue.
President Donald Trump's envoy Steve Witkoff will soon visit Russia again, reports Russian state media, according to AFP. "Yes", replied Putin's adviser Jurij Usjakov to a question from a reporter.
This will be Witkoff's fourth trip to Russia since Trump took office as president in January.
The USA, which has taken the initiative and is mediating the talks, wants to reach an agreement as soon as possible, since Trump has promised that it will happen in no time. Trump said the other day that he sees it as possible to reach an agreement already this week.
Meeting in London
Foreign Minister Marco Rubio warned over the weekend, after meetings with Ukraine and other allies, that the USA may "move on" if there is no progress in the near future.
On Wednesday, a new meeting will be held with high-ranking representatives from the USA, Ukraine, and European allies in London. According to media reports, the USA has presented proposals that would mean Ukraine making significant concessions to Russia on several major points, while much also depends on what security guarantees Ukraine can get in the long run. It has not been revealed what kind of pressure the USA is exerting on or demanding from Russia.
