On Tuesday, the message came that the International Ski and Snowboard Federation, Fis, extends the suspension of Russian and Belarusian skiers and that they therefore will not be allowed to compete in the Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina.
Russia reacted with anger and threatened to go to court.
Now, Russian media writes that the decision will be appealed by the Russian Olympic Committee and the Russian Ski Federation.
This is announced by Russia's Sports Minister Mikhail Degtjarev, who is also the head of the Russian Olympic Committee.
"We believe that such actions are completely unacceptable and entirely contrary to the principles and values that are anchored in the Olympic Charter. The Ministry of Sports and the Russian Olympic Committee will, in cooperation with our ski federations, prepare appeals against this decision from the Fis Council", says Degtjarev in a statement from the Ministry of Sports' press service.
The statement also notes that a similar appeal to the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation has been successful.
