In a post on Telegram, the ministry writes that Vasyutinske and Toretsk have been under Russian control since Sunday.
Ukraine has not commented on the information.
Both villages are located near the city of Kramatorsk, which is right on the front line. This week, Ukrainian authorities ordered the evacuation of hundreds of families with children from the city and nearby areas, due to the risk of Russian attacks.
