The attacks come as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy prepares to address the UN General Assembly in New York on Wednesday evening, where he is expected to appeal for support for better air defence against Russian drone and missile attacks.
“Russia has fired a number of drones at the city (Kyiv),” Zelenskyy writes on X, adding that two people were killed in the capital on Wednesday. In addition, 41 people have been injured, according to local authorities.
Four more people, including a child, were reportedly killed in an attack on a residential building in Oleksandrivka in the eastern Donbas region. A captain of a cargo ship in the port of Odesa was killed in another Russian attack.
