During the night to Wednesday, Ukraine's air force claims to have registered 117 Russian drones heading down through the air towards at least four of the country's regions. 56 of the drones are said to have been shot down.
Several are reported to have crashed and caused damage to civilian buildings, including in the city of Kryvyj Rih and in Ochtyrka in the northeast.
Russia has launched an attack with around 100 drones or more on several consecutive nights, killing several civilians and injuring many tens of people.
Ukraine and Russia are currently in negotiations for a partial ceasefire, with the US as a mediating agent. On Tuesday, it was stated from the American side that the parties had agreed on the terms of a smaller ceasefire that would apply in the Black Sea. However, Russia is said to continue demanding relief from American sanctions.
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj emphasizes, as he has done before, that Russia cannot be trusted. He takes the large-scale attacks of the past few nights as evidence of this.
"To carry out such large-scale attacks after negotiations about a ceasefire is to show the whole world with all desirable clarity that Moscow will not agree to real peace", Zelenskyj states via social media, where he also urges the US to tighten sanctions to put pressure on the Russian government.
