Before the Iran war, Russian gas was only sold to China.
The discount Russia is now offering to attract more Asian customers amounts to 40 percent compared with spot prices on the world market. According to sources, the deals will be made with the help of intermediaries in China and Russia.
Russia will also offer documentation that makes it appear the gas comes from Oman or Nigeria rather than from the large, sanctioned Russian gas facilities Arctic LNG 2 and Portavaja.
