Russia expert Martin Kragh dies after long illness

In recent years, Kragh has been heard and seen mainly commenting on Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine. As recently as June 22 this year, he spoke on Swedish Radio in the summer, talking about the long cancer treatment he has undergone and is still receiving.

"It is impossible to overstate Martin's importance to Swedish Russian and Eastern European research," UI writes in the press release.

Martin Kragh has also received a long list of prizes and awards for his work, including HM the King's Medal "for outstanding historical and security policy research".

Martin Kragh was 45 years old.
