With hundreds of drones and robots, Russia has launched an attack primarily on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
In several counties, electricity supply has been almost completely cut off. Emergency power cuts have been introduced in some parts of the country, reports Kyiv Independent.
“Over 650 drones were fired, several of them Shahed models. Over 30 missiles were used,” Zelenskyy writes on the X platform.
"An attack before Christmas, when people just want to be with their families, at home, and safe."
In the western parts, explosions have been heard in the city of Rivne and in areas along the southwestern border. In addition, the city of Cherkasy has been attacked, as has the capital Kyiv, writes Kyiv Independent.
Reports of attacks are coming from several cities. Three people have been killed and twelve injured, including many children, according to local media.
In neighboring Poland, fighter jets took off to protect the country's airspace during the Russian attacks.
The attacks come at the same time as President Zelensky has warned that Russia, according to Ukrainian intelligence, is preparing for extensive attacks on Ukraine during the Christmas holidays and that the population must take precautions against airstrikes in the coming days, according to the country's public service channel Suspilne.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has dismissed a ceasefire over Christmas on the grounds that it would give Ukraine a temporary respite, according to the Kyiv Independent.
