It emerges in a joint statement following talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on Thursday in Moscow. The latter is visiting the Kremlin in connection with the Russian so-called Victory Day in World War II.
The talks are described by the leaders as "warm and friendly" and Putin called his Chinese colleague "dear friend".
In the statement, the presidents claim that the American plan "explicitly prescribes a significant reinforcement to carry out combat operations in space".
The so-called Iron Dome, Israel's advanced air defense system, has been in focus during the war in the Middle East. When Trump had just been sworn in for his second term, he let it be known that he intended to make a reality of his election promise to build an American system similar to it.
