The Russian ceasefire, announced in conjunction with the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, is to last for three days, according to Moscow. But just hours after midnight, the air raid sirens sounded again in Ukraine.

According to the Ukrainian public service company Suspilne, Russia attacked Bilopillja in the Sumy region with precision-guided bombs. The city in northeastern Ukraine is reported to have been attacked at least three times. According to local authorities, one person was killed and two more were injured, writes AP.

"Predictably enough, Putin's 'parade ceasefire' has turned out to be a big joke", writes Foreign Minister Andrij Sybiha on X.

From midnight to midday, Russia committed 734 violations of the ceasefire.

Russia responds by accusing Ukraine of continued attacks during the Russian ceasefire, reports AFP. According to the Defense Ministry in Moscow, Russia's strikes are solely a response to Ukraine's violations of the ceasefire.

Ukraine, however, has not explicitly agreed to the Russian-declared ceasefire. Instead, Kyiv has demanded a 30-day ceasefire, a proposal that Russia has not responded to.

It is completely fair that the Russian sky, the aggressor's sky, is not peaceful either, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj in a video published on Telegram on Wednesday.
