According to the BBC, the British comedian only answered affirmatively when asked about his name and date of birth and was otherwise silent during the six-minute hearing.
The proceedings are taking place in the UK, but Russell Brand is in the US. He is formally accused of additional counts of rape and sexual assault. According to the London Metropolitan Police, two more women have come forward with new information relating to events from 2009.
In April last year, he was charged with assault and rape in relation to four women.
A British court has set February 17 as the date for Brand to appear in London to answer the charges. He has previously denied any criminal wrongdoing.
