The 49-year-old comedian Russell Brand is being prosecuted for several cases of rape and sexual assault.
The London police began investigating allegations from several women after The Sunday Times and Channel 4 published a joint investigation in September 2023. Several women came forward, claiming that Brand had sexually assaulted them in the UK and Los Angeles.
According to the police investigation leader Andy Furphy, the four women who are now plaintiffs are receiving crisis support from personnel specialized in sexual offenses.
Russell Brand himself denies the allegations and says in a new video on his X account that he is not a rapist and "has never been involved in sexual relationships that were not based on consent".
Russell Brand is scheduled to appear in court in London on May 2.
