According to Strömmer, this is a Russian influence operation aimed at political decision-making in Sweden.
"The government is of course taking the incident seriously. At the same time, we have been well informed about this. We have also been able to make decisions regarding two accredited diplomats who have also been forced to leave Sweden because of this," he says.
The current operation is not considered to have anything to do with the Swedish election in September, but is part of a larger pattern in which Russia is acting aggressively to promote its interests in Sweden, according to Strömmer.
