Netanyahu threatens to "open the gates of hell"

Hamas must be annihilated, emphasizes USA's Foreign Minister Marco Rubio on a visit to Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The latter promises in turn to "open the gates of hell" if not all those who are held hostage by the terrorist-stamped Hamas are released.

Hamas cannot continue as a military or political power factor, says Rubio at a joint press conference in Jerusalem.

Netanyahu, on his part, says that Israel and the USA have a "common strategy" regarding the future of Gaza. This with reference to the fact that the USA's President Donald Trump recently claimed that the USA will take control over or "own" the Gaza Strip.

We have discussed Trump's bold vision for Gaza's future and we will work to ensure that this vision becomes a reality, says Netanyahu.

He also reiterates the demands that Hamas must release all those taken as hostages in the extremist movement's large-scale attack on October 7, 2023. If this does not happen, he threatens to "open the gates of hell".

The two also emphasize the importance of countering Iran, according to Rubio the "single largest" source of instability in the Middle East.

Iran must never become a nuclear power, says he.

Israel, promises Netanyahu, will with American help "finish the job" with Iran.
