During the five years that the Royal Opera is to be renovated, the Royal Court Orchestra, from next year onwards, will rehearse in the concert hall at Nybroplan in central Stockholm. This means that the Musical Quarter, which conducts musical activities in the form of stages, music education and studios, has been terminated by the State Real Estate Agency, SFV.

Our public activities cannot be combined with the orchestra's rehearsal needs, so we must leave. We think it's very sad that the city of Stockholm is losing public stages. After all, the opera is closing, and our well-functioning public activities are also being closed. So, the people of Stockholm are losing two stages, says Andil Dahl, concert hall manager at the Musical Quarter, to TT.

The Musical Quarter must move out in February next year. Where it will move to is not clear, but according to Andil Dahl, there is hope for new premises on Blasieholmen.

The Musical Quarter's stages are Stockholm's oldest concert hall. In 2023, nearly 30,000 people signed a petition to preserve it since the SFV shocked the rent with 60 percent.

The opera house at Gustav Adolfs torg is to be renovated and rebuilt from 2027.
