The Norwegian Crown Prince and Crown Princess will not attend the trial of Crown Princess Mette-Marit's son, Marius Borg Høiby. The 29-year-old is charged with rape and assault, among other charges.

"We do not intend to comment or make a statement about the trial. The King, the Queen and I all have official commitments during this period. The Crown Princess has planned a private trip." Crown Prince Haakon told the gathered press corps.

Marius Borg Høiby is Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s son from a previous relationship. He has been in a lot of trouble over the past year after a series of criminal allegations.

The trial against him starts on February 3 and includes 38 charges. Seven people are bringing charges against Borg Høiby.
