On Saturday, the royal couple will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. The design is inspired by a classic chamber candlestick, with a base that is a bowl for burnt-out matches.
Speaker Andreas Norlén says that the purpose of the gift is to "symbolically light a candle for love, something that may be needed in these sometimes dark times."
"The candlestick's highly polished surface forms a gold-colored mirror that frames and reflects the flame from the candle. The golden reflections symbolize the eternal flame of love," says Norlén in a press release.
