The newly appointed Bristol City manager confirmed this at his first press conference on Monday.

When asked if he was open to continuing next season, he answered:

No, I'm too old. It was interesting because it's a five-week mission.

The experienced coach, who led both Halmstad and Malmö FF to Swedish Championship gold, has, among other things, been England national team manager and manager of Premier League giants Liverpool.

Hodgson left Crystal Palace in February 2024 and has now been given the go-ahead to lead Bristol City in the Championship until the end of the season.

The team is 16th in the Championship with seven games left to play. His first match will be on Good Friday, away to Charlton.
