The Portuguese giant got a dream start with a goal just three minutes into the away match against Club Brugge in the Champions League.
But then it became like usual lately, after former coach Rúben Amorim's move to Premier League team Manchester United. Sporting lost – and have now four straight losses.
At Jan Breydel Stadium in Brugge, the fans showed their discontent and threw in a pyrotechnic device that landed beside the players.
Gyökeres responded by making a puzzled gesture towards the fans.
They probably threw it at us. We were the ones standing there, we wanted to thank them for coming here and supporting us in this match, says the Swede to Viaplay and thought the fans' behavior was sad.
We try to win every match, that's all we want to do. This is not a fun period for us and I understand it's tough for them too, but it's easier if we turn this around together.
Club Brugge sealed the deal with ten minutes left, when Casper Nielsen scored the 2–1 goal.
