National team captain Magnus Hävelid released the news at a press conference.

From the November break until today, he has had an incredibly good form. Injuries opened a door and the coaches let him out, and he took advantage of it, says Hävelid.

He is a skating-strong player and smart both with and without the puck. He is not afraid to get into the heat. I hope he can come in and make an impact from below and just "boost" us, says the national team captain further about Altörn.

Yesterday, Hävelid called all players with the message about the selections. He describes how Dennis Altörn, at the very least, was shocked.

I called Dennis last of all players. He was shocked, so it became very quiet for a while. So I tried to say that he should breathe a little. "Damn how happy I got" he said in the end, Hävelid tells about the phone call with Altörn.

Altörn himself confirms the shock at the selection as Hävelid described.

"It's an incredible feeling. When I got the message, I didn't fully understand that it was real and it hasn't really sunk in yet. The Junior World Championship is something you've been watching your whole life and to now get the honor of representing Sweden is a dream come true", says Dennis Altörn according to Leksand's website.

The Junior Crowns took silver on home soil in the last championship. Now Hävelid & Co are seeking revenge in Canada.

The JVM is played in Ottawa, December 26 to January 5.
