With a quarter left to play, Cristiano Ronaldo got the chance to break the goal drought at home against Ireland in the World Championship qualifying match. The veteran tried to chip in the penalty in the middle of the goal, but the Irish goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher got a leg high up in the air and was able to save.
The third straight win out of three possible would however be secured. In the first added minute, Rúben Neves could head in the only goal of the match.
After Portugal on nine points, Hungary is second in the group on four points. Armenia has three while Ireland is last on one point.
