The six-time Ballon D'or winner has played for the Saudi Arabian club al-Nassr since 2022, but the contract with the club expires on the last June.

Before the club World Championship this summer, Fifa has introduced a new transfer window during the summer, to enable clubs participating in the tournament to make signings.

It has therefore been discussed that Ronaldo could sign for a new club and thus participate in the club World Championship. But now Ronaldo announces that he will not play.

Some teams contacted me. Some were reasonable, some were not, but you can't try to do everything, you can't catch every ball, he says.

Where Ronaldo will play next season is still unclear, but the striker says that a decision is approaching.

In May, Ronaldo posted an entry on social media shortly after the last match of the season with al-Nassr with the words "this chapter is over".

The club World Championship in the US takes place between 15 June and 13 July.
