"It has long been an ambition for me to contribute to football off the pitch; UD Almería is a Spanish club with a strong foundation and clear growth potential," the Portuguese said in a statement.

Since 2019, the club has been controlled by Saudi owners. Mohamed al-Khereiji became the new owner and chairman of the club in the summer of 2025, when he bought it from Turki al-Alshikh.

Ronaldo, 41, has been playing for Saudi Al-Nassr since the end of 2022. Almería is in third place in Spain's second division and last played in the first division in 2024.
