Rome's international airport Fiumicino has opened one of the first dog hotels at a major European airport.

At Dog Relais, the staff collect the dogs from the terminal and a standard room at the dog hotel costs around 450 kronor per night and has temperature-controlled floors and private gardens. At night, relaxing music with a soft tone of 432 hertz is played in the rooms.

Additional services are available, from regular fur care, bathing and tooth cleaning to more luxurious options such as aromatherapy with lavender or peppermint scent to calm the dog, or arnica cream for sore muscles and joints.

Owners who are not satisfied with standard web cameras can choose a premium room for around 660 kronor with a screen for video calls around the clock. They can also give the dog treats via an app that controls an automated dispenser.
