Barcelona star Fridolina Rolfö has been one of Sweden's key players for many years.
But in the final Nations League match against Denmark at the beginning of June, she was forced to limp off the pitch already in the first half.
Now she is in a battle against time to be ready to play in at least some part of the European Championship in Switzerland. The national team has indeed written her into the squad, but whether and when she can actually play is still unclear.
I really feel for her and hope it goes well. And that she makes it. But it's clear that it's incredibly tough. It's a championship that you've been preparing for for a long time, says Madelen Janogy.
It's hard to explain if you're not in it. It's really a nightmare.
Vinberg reserve
Tottenham player Matilda Vinberg is on the European Championship trip as a reserve. Peter Gerhardsson also has alternatives like Rebecka Blomqvist and Sofia Jakobsson in the squad.
But it was Madelen Janogy who got to jump in against Denmark last time and she who got to start in Thursday evening's European Championship rehearsal against Norway (2–0).
National team coach Peter Gerhardsson is also pleased with what he saw.
I think there were many things she did well, he says about Janogy's performance in the rehearsal.
I thought she found the right spot and didn't lie too high, but found a space between their defense and midfield.
"Work hard"
Therefore, much suggests that the Fiorentina striker may get the chance instead of Rolfö even during the European Championship. But she herself has not thought about it that much, she claims.
First, I hope that "Frido" makes it back. She's a very close friend of mine, so I really hope it goes well, says Madelen Janogy.
For me, nothing changes, I prepare in the same way as I always have. And if it's me who's going to play, I'm ready. So I don't think about it that much, I'm trying instead to work hard and do everything one hundred percent.
After 2–0 against Norway on Thursday evening, the national team is now traveling to Switzerland for the final European Championship preparations before the group stage matches against Denmark, Poland, and Germany.
The first training session at the base camp in Cham, south of Zurich, takes place on Monday.
