In the motivation, he is called one of "our most popular actors" and is said to have attracted generations of cinema-goers with his diverse roles.
"I feel incredibly proud and honored to receive the cinema owners' prize. Among other things, because the cinema owners are the last link for all films before they reach the audience. The company is fantastic and testifies to being part of Swedish film history", says Rolf Lassgård in a press release.
The first prize went to Harriet Andersson and has since been awarded to Stellan Skarsgård and Pernilla August. The prize consists of a diploma, a candlestick, and John Kandell's chair "Camilla".
The prize was reinstated in 2022 in connection with the premiere edition of the Värnamo Film Historical Festival. It is also awarded during the festival, which takes place from 24 to 27 April.
