Precisely when the puck was to be dropped for the second period between Rögle and Frölunda, the speaker took the opportunity to reveal two of the names in Sam Hallam's upcoming national team squad.
The audience in Ängelholm thus found out that both Holm and Bengtsson are included when Sweden travels to Finland for the tournament. Two names are thus already official ahead of Thursday's press conference, where the rest of the squad will be presented.
Goalkeeper Holm was not in tonight's match – he was rested in favor of Christoffer Rifalk – while team captain Bengtsson was highly involved in Rögle's leading goal in the first period.
Defender Filip Johansson sought Bengtsson's club, but the puck instead hit Frölunda's Tom Nilsson's skate and found its way behind the goalkeeper.
Aside from the unexpected national team selections, the audience in Catena arena was not treated to a particularly goal-rich event.
Most spectators probably do not care about that, though. Rögle won 2–0 and thus moved past the Gothenburg team in the table up to sole series lead.
When one goalkeeper is of national team class, the other steps in, gets named the game's player, and keeps a clean sheet. A pleasant goalkeeper situation for the Skåne team.
A thunderous Tuesday. A good game from us and great pressure in here as usual, says the match-winning goalkeeper Christoffer Rifalk in TV4 Play.
