In the last match of the regular season in the SHL between Rögle and Leksand, defenseman Calvin de Haan received a match penalty for slashing.
The ruling means he will miss the first matches against Färjestad in the quarterfinal series.
Rögle's sports director Hampus Sjöström says that the club has taken the matter further.
"We believe that there are parts of the decision that need to be further motivated to justify a more severe punishment than what has already been handed out on the ice," Sjöström said in a text message to Expressen.
Calvin de Haan had three goals and 13 assists during the regular season and the 34-year-old has played over ten seasons in the NHL.
