Carlsbogård, 31, chose not to accept the call-up to the national handball team for the next training camp after 102 international appearances.

The reason: The Barcelona left winger had no desire to play as a pure defender.

With Roganovic injured, the situation has suddenly changed, and Aftonbladet reveals that Carlsbogård will replace him.

Carlsbogård will now compete more on the terms he has said he wants, national coach Michael Apelgren tells the newspaper.

Nikola Roganovic is expected to be out for five to six weeks with a stress fracture in his foot, according to his German club, Gummersbach. The 20-year-old has made a strong start to his first season in the Bundesliga, where he is third in the scoring charts.

The World Cup in Germany will be held from January 13 to 31.

"I don't think there should be any danger. But it's never good when players are injured, and Nikola is a player we have shown that we believe in a lot," Apelgren tells Aftonbladet.
