Argentina lost the World Cup final to Spain 1-0. But their path to the final was marred by conspiracy theories that they had been given several crucial decisions and that the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) had paved the way for them with an easier draw.
Rodrigo De Paul, a midfielder for the silver medallists, has had enough of the accusations. In a post on Instagram, he now hits back at those who spread the conspiracy theories.
"People who throughout the World Cup spread baseless conspiracy theories to ease their own pain, simply because they couldn't experience what we Argentines experienced," he writes.
