In a statement, the company describes the leaks as "heartbreaking" for the development team and apologizes for the delay in official updates, the BBC writes.
The leaks have prompted parent company Take-Two Interactive to file a lawsuit in a New York court, while Rockstar promises to exceed fans' expectations during the preview that airs on Netflix on Thursday.
The game is scheduled to launch in November for PlayStation 5 and Xbox.
The fifth edition of GTA was released more than 13 years ago. The game series is the second best-selling in history globally.
