“Your national ID card has been stolen and you are involved in a criminal investigation” is an example of what the voice says. The police point out that they never call people like that.
“When it’s an automated voice, just hang up,” says Björn Seeth at the police’s national fraud center.
It is one of several waves of this type of scam calls. The reports have mainly come in from concerned people in the East, West and North police regions.
“This type of fraud has several variations. The voice can also say it is from your bank or that you have debts,” says Björn Seeth.
