A Romanian player was injured at the end of the previous national team match and the game was interrupted at the score of 36–28.
Earlier in the match, Jamina Roberts was celebrated when the game was stopped in the eighth minute and she received standing ovations and gifts.
But due to the unfortunate ending, there was no celebration after the match for the 34-year-old. She was therefore also recognized after her 256th national team match, including congratulations from international handball stars and her first national team captain.
Handball's Patti Smith, from joker to world star, says Per Johansson about Roberts in a recorded tribute.
"Is supermodern"
The current national team captain Tomas Axnér also had some words to say.
You get moved by the journey Jamina has made, to go from a role as someone you throw in, a super talent, to a duel player and to being team captain, says Axnér to SVT.
What is unique with Jamina is that handball has developed with her, she is a supermodern handball player.
Per Johansson says she has at least five more years of handball left in her.
It will have to be in another role then, says Roberts herself.
But she has no plans to quit yet.
As long as I think it's fun and get selected, I'll continue. I've never thought in terms of records, for the national team is not something to take for granted.
About the tributes, she says:
Of course, you get proud, it was nice and I really appreciate it. But it was also a bit uncomfortable to stand there.
The goalkeeper was decisive
The Swedish women's handball team turned around 9–13 at halftime to a second victory, 26–25. Decisive was that the experienced goalkeeper Johanna Bundsen came in in the second half and made many decisive saves.
In the first national team match, Sorina Grosav collided with her own goalkeeper. She was unconscious for a while and was taken to the hospital. After a couple of hours, a positive message came, that Grosav had escaped without any serious injury.
The matches against Romania were played as preparation for the World Championship qualification in April.
